Chiropractor
Sam Messimer D.C.
Dr. Sam Messimer completed his undergraduate studies at Milligan University and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in Marietta, Georgia. In 1991, Dr. Sam (as he is known to most of his patients) opened an office for his uncle Dr. James Messimer, and in 1995 he established Oakland Chiropractic at its present location.
In 2019, Dr. Sam expanded his reach in the community by opening Balanced Medical Center. Today, the clinic serves patients through both chiropractic care and also conservative medical treatment. Dr. Sam says, "we know that if we can help a patient with their spine and joint health in our office, they will be able to avoid the risk of taking opioids and having surgery." Dr. Sam has been married to his amazing teacher wife Lisa for 22 years, and they have one awesome college age son, Thomas. Dr. Sam and Lisa enjoy going on adventures, traveling, and eating good food! They have two Wheaton terrier-ish dogs they rescued from a shelter in Kentucky.
Insurance Billing
Leah S. West L.M.T.
Leah has been involved in Chiropractic for 20 plus years. She worked the front desk, as a therapy and rehab assistant. She has also been the office manager and is in charge of billing.
Leah specializes in her technique to aid clients coping with acute and chronic conditions using a variety of tools and styles
Leah and her husband, Chris, have 2 children and reside in Johnson City TN.
Office Manager
Jennifer Burleson
Jennifer Burleson, our office manager of 9 years, has been with Balanced Medical Center since the summer of 2015. She completed her CTA training in December that year and has been an advocate for Chiropractic and natural health care since!
Jennifer is the 'go to' person in our office for the staff as well as patients. She is always ready to help wherever she is needed. She lives in Johnson City TN and enjoys spending time with her family and traveling as often as possible.
Family Nurse Practitioner
Lindsey Smith F.N.P.
Lindsey Smith is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and registered nurse. She holds a master's degree in nursing from Walden University which she received in 2014. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from East Tennessee State University in 2009.
Lindsey is a native of Bristol, TN where she lives with her husband, two daughters, and their dog. She joined Balanced Medical Center in August of 2019 where she will be providing services to help aid in relieving patients' pain as quickly and efficiently as possible. Some of the treatments she offers include Trigger Point Injections, joint injections, and HCT injections for arthritis.
